Google loses appeal of $2.8 billion fine in E.U. antitrust case / shopping case

Updated: Dec 10, 2021

Today is a good day for the EU, competition law and the rights of consumers. The General Court of the EU upheld the European Commission decision in #GoogleShopping case and its €2.42 billion fine. The Court largely dismissed Google’s action against the decision finding that Google abused its dominant position by favouring its own comparison shopping service over competing comparison shopping services. BEUC - The European Consumer Organisation was a complainant in this case and intervened before the General Court in support of the Commission decision. #google #law #breakingnews #globalnews #didyouknow #news
